Shooting On the Run

Travel Photography for Tourists.

The light is never right.  The weather is unpredictable.  And, your “significant other” continually threatens to go on without you if you keep lagging behind the tour group.  Travel photography is challenging, at best.  However, travel photography also offers us the opportunity to shoot the entire range of photographic subjects while experiencing the energy of being in a new place, among new people, and seeing new things.  And, with a bit of forethought and planning, your time “on the run” can become not only productive, but creative and exciting.  This course will touch on a variety of subjects, including:  preparation, packing and research, capturing the essence of a place, and bringing home your captive images.

Dates:              August 20, Wednesday evening, 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Skill Level:      Open.  However, be advised that this course will not teach you how to operate your newly purchased digital camera.

Instructors:      David Schroeder & Diane Moody

Fee:                 $59

David Schroeder.  David is the present curator of The Photographers’ Gallery.  He is a recently retired clinical psychologist and has an extensive background in various artistic pursuits, including drawing, painting, singing, acting and writing.  He bought his first serious camera in the early 1970’s to create slide shows of the work his clients were doing in art therapy – gradually giving up most of his other modes of expression in favor of photography.  As a photographer, David describes himself as “eclectic.”  He is equally drawn to images of people, place, things, plants and animals.  However, in all areas he is most attracted to pictures that capture energy, emotion, imagination or story.  He exhibits regularly at local galleries and has had numerous one-man shows.  For more information about David, log onto his web-site:  www.anuncommoneye.com

Diane Moody.  Diane is the assistant curator of The Photographers’ Gallery.  (Also referred to as the Gallery Gofer), Diane has become an avid student of photography, under the mentorship of Al Golub.  Currently she is focused on developing her photographic skills and direction, though primarily her interests are people and photojournalism.  She loves the immediacy and excitement of photojournalistic work.
