Bring Your Photos to Life

Lessons to be Learned from a Photojournalist

Wake up your viewers!  Even the prettiest picture can quickly become boring if it lacks story, energy, emotion or imagination – qualities that bring our images to life.  Spend the evening with Al Golub, the past Director of Photography for the Modesto Bee, and Diane Moody, his talented protégé, and learn the “tricks of the trade” that photojournalists practice in order to create the meaningful images we see in our newspapers and online newscasts.  Lessons learned in this medium are equally applicable to other areas of photography, from portraits to landscapes and nature.

Dates:              December 10, Wednesday evening, 6:00 – 8:30 pm

Skill Level:      Beginner – Advanced

Instructor:       Al Golub & Diane Moody

Fee:                 $59

Al Golub.  Al is the recently retired Director of Photography at the Modesto Bee.  He continues to free-lance as a photojournalist, especially when it involves shooting home games of the Raiders and the 49ers, and to teach photojournalism at Modesto Junior College.  Al is also one of the most technologically savvy photographers in our area and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to every class he teaches.  For more information about Al, log onto his web-site:  www.golubphoto.com

Diane Moody.  Diane is the assistant curator of The Photographers’ Gallery.  (Also referred to as the Gallery Gofer), Diane has become an avid student of photography, under the mentorship of Al Golub.  Currently she is focused on developing her photographic skills and direction, though primarily her interests are people and photojournalism.  She loves the immediacy and excitement of photojournalistic work.
