Shooting and Printing Panoramas

Now that digital photography is a reality, it is possible to make panoramas with virtually any digital camera, from a pocket-sized 2 MP to the most expensive DSLR, that equal or exceed that which one could previously make only with specialized panoramic film cameras.  In this workshop, you will learn to set-up, photograph, and stitch panoramic images on the computer.  The complexity level of the class will range from fairly simple, for a several panel panorama, to somewhat more complex, for spherical panoramas.  The emphasis will be on simple panoramas, first, and move on to spherical panoramas if there is interest. 

We will meet in the classroom on a Friday night to discuss the theory of panoramas.  We will meet again early the next day in the field to demonstrate the techniques we had discussed.  Finally, we will meet again in the evening to demonstrate the computer techniques on the images made earlier.

David Lee.  David has been a photographer for almost 30 years.  He taught photography at Modesto Junior College for 10 years and has been an artist-in-residence in Yosemite National Park.  He is an internationally recognized expert in stereo (3-D) photography and his stereo work is in many collections.  He has had numerous one-man exhibitions and been the recipient of many awards, the most recent being the “Best of Show” in the photography competition sponsored by the Central California Art League in Modesto.
